Fernando Alonso appears to be fuming with Aston Martin, insisting that his team “get better for Baku”. He missed out on points by just two-tenths of a second at the Italian Grand Prix, finishing in P11 behind Kevin Magnussen.

He’s not gone without points in the prior two races and things are looking OK for Aston in the constructors’, 40 points ahead of Red Bull. But it didn’t stop Fernando blasting the things his team were “doing wrong” after Monza.

“Disappointed because we did a very good start, overtook Nico [Hulkenberg] and then very good strategy with the two stops, we undercut Alex [Albon] and were running P9 comfortably,” he told the media after Sunday’s race.

“But at the end with the second stop, we could not catch quick enough Alex and we finished a second behind him and one-tenth behind Magnussen so for one second, two positions [lost] is costly and painful.”

He finished: “I hope we understand things that we are doing wrong, as definitely we are doing something really wrong and we get better for Baku.” And he’s not the only driver seemingly dragging their car builders.

“If we continue like this, we will lose both championships,” Max Verstappen said of his team, Red Bull Racing. “We have to work hard and change a lot of things in the car, because if not, we will lose everything. Last year we had a great car, the most dominant in history, and we basically turned it into a monster.”
