A YouTuber has documented the process of building a budget performance car designed to challenge one of the most extreme road-legal track machines produced by Porsche.
Content creator Chris Slix set out to construct a replica Porsche 911 GT2 RS using a base car and low-cost parts sourced online, including components from Temu.

The aim of the project was straightforward but ambitious. “We had one goal when building this fake GT2RS, and that was to try and beat a real one on the track.”

The GT2 RS is widely regarded as one of the fastest road-going cars the German manufacturer has ever produced, with the model having set performance benchmarks at multiple circuits, including the Nürburgring.
Slix argues that modern performance models from major manufacturers can command extremely high prices, prompting the experiment to see whether a significantly cheaper build could deliver comparable performance.

“That’s because I’m a believer that these manufacturers are starting to rip us off with their performance models. And I think that we can build something just as fast, if not even faster, for less than a third of the money.”
Preparing the car for circuit use required extensive modification beyond cosmetic changes. The project focused on increasing engine output while also improving key areas, including tyres, braking capability, suspension components and aerodynamic efficiency.
Handling upgrades were treated as a priority due to the GT2 RS’s reputation for high cornering performance on track. The car also had to meet basic road requirements before any testing could begin.

Lighting systems were among the first items addressed so the vehicle could legally travel to the circuit before attempting any competitive running. “We haven’t got lights here or here, and we need to sort that out.”
According to the project plan, each stage of the build becomes progressively more complex as further upgrades are installed.
