Max Verstappen has confirmed Red Bull will revert to an older rear wing specification for this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix after back-to-back failures caused two heavy crashes.
The four-time Formula 1 world champion was pitched into the barriers in Austria and Britain after faults with the rotating rear wing, prompting Red Bull to shelve the updated design.

Speaking ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, Verstappen said the decision was an obvious one.
“It’s quite obvious, no, why? So we’ll go back on the old one and then see whenever the latest or new one is ready again to be used for us.”

Verstappen also refused to be drawn on his long-term future, insisting he would reveal any decision himself rather than fuel ongoing speculation.

“I don’t want to go here, say yes, and no, and this and that about my future. I said already many times that if there was something new I would say it myself.”
The Dutchman also praised Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies, saying the pair have built a strong relationship since Mekies replaced Christian Horner last year.
