Max Verstappen will contest the Nürburgring 24 Hours in May as he prepares to take on his first attempt at the famous endurance race.
The Dutch driver will share a Red Bull-liveried Mercedes-AMG GT3 with teammates Daniel Juncadella, Jules Gounon and Lucas Auer.

The event takes place at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, one of the most demanding circuits in global motorsport.

Running nearly 13 miles through wooded German hills, the Nordschleife features more than 150 corners with barriers often positioned close to the track.

The historic layout has not been used by Formula One since 1976.
That year reigning champion Niki Lauda suffered severe burns in a major crash during the German Grand Prix.
Verstappen previously competed at the circuit in September in a slower GT4-specification car during a four-hour race designed to secure the permit required to race faster machinery at the venue.

Later that month, he returned and won another event at the circuit, driving a GT3-class Ferrari.

His team confirmed he will also enter a race at the Nürburgring on March 21 as preparation for the 24-hour challenge.
That appearance fits between the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix and the Japanese Grand Prix scheduled for March 29.

The Nürburgring 24 Hours begins at 3 p.m. local time on May 16 and concludes the following day.

The race takes place one week before the Canadian Grand Prix on the Formula One calendar.
Verstappen described the challenge as a long-standing ambition.
“The Nürburgring Nordschleife is a special place. There’s no other track like it,” Verstappen said.
“The 24h Nürburgring is a race that’s been on my bucket list for a long time, so I’m really thrilled we can make it happen now.”
