Lando Norris says speculation linking Max Verstappen with a move to McLaren is “not a serious thing”, despite describing the reports as “a cool thing” to hear.
The comments come after reports from media including Sky Sports claimed Verstappen’s management requested and held a meeting with McLaren ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.

No details of any discussions have been reported, while the four-time Formula 1 world champion has not commented on the speculation.
Speaking ahead of his home British Grand Prix, Norris welcomed the idea that Verstappen could be interested in joining the Woking-based team.

“It’s a cool thing, it’s a good thing that a four-time world champion wants to come on board and wants to potentially join the team,” Norris said Thursday as he prepares for his home British Grand Prix.

“I don’t know how much of it’s true, but it’s a cool thing and if there’s an opportunity for me to drive with other people, it’s something I’ve always looked forward to. But it’s not a thing for now. It’s not a serious thing.”

McLaren chief executive Zak Brown also addressed the speculation on the Up To Speed podcast, released on Wednesday.
Brown said Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri are “not going anywhere” and added he would only consider signing Verstappen if McLaren had an available seat.
